This year’s Oak Meyer Gardens Summer Social is set for Sunday, July 24th, from 4pm-7pm. Our Summer Social is always a lot of fun, but there are some exciting changes planned for this year’s event that we hope will give residents a better opportunity to catch up with old acquaintances and to make new new friends in the neighborhood.
What’s new? For starters, the location. Instead of being held at a Holmes Park, this summer’s social will take place on Locust Street between 66th and 68th terraces. It’s a well-shaded spot and right in the center of Oak Meyer Gardens boundaries.
The 2011 get-together will also be a good excuse to show off your culinary skills—OMG will provide plenty of food, including the main course burgers, but this year we’re inviting residents to bring a side dish or dessert to share with other guests (see details below*) if they would like to.
Finally, we’re moving the social to a slightly later time slot—from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.—to give everyone a chance to finish off those weekend errands and work up a healthy appetite before the party starts.
There are still a few things that aren’t changing—OMG will provide family- friendly entertainment, including a moonwalk for the kids, a cotton candy machine and a chance to climb aboard a real fire engine. It’s going to be a great time so mark your calendars now for Sunday, July 24.
*“What Can I Bring to the Party?”
If you’d *like* to bring a dish, we suggest: odd house numbers, bring a side dish, even house numbers, bring a dessert OMG will provide burgers, hotdogs, drinks, cotton candy, ice cream and more!
Is there anything new in 2014? Some of the neighbors on Locust street have inquired. Will there be a dumpster day? Garage Sale day? Summer event?
